FIRST STEPS 

Since 1971, we’ve been a leader in services for children with developmental disabilities. Our team approach ensures success in “discovering the potential” for each child.

LOGAN is a provider through Indiana First Steps, an early intervention system for infants and toddlers ages 0-3 who have special needs. First Steps is a program of the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) and is a family-centered, locally based, coordinated system that provides early intervention services to infants and young children with disabilities or who are developmentally vulnerable.

Who is eligible for First Steps services?

Families who are eligible to participate in Indiana’s First Steps system include those with children ages birth to 3 years old who:

  • Are experiencing developmental delays.

  • Have a diagnosed condition that has a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay.

Services children may receive through Indiana’s First Steps System include:

  • Developmental Therapy

  • Diagnostic Medical Services*

  • Health Services

  • Nursing Services

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Physical Therapy

  • Psychological Services

  • Service Coordination

  • Special Instruction

  • Speech Language Pathology

  • Transportation

  • Vision Services

What comes next?

After First Steps, LOGAN continues to provide private therapy to children from the ages of 3 to 7. The private therapy services we provide after age three are Speech and Occupational therapy. Therapy after the age of three is provided at LOGAN, although exceptions are considered depending on the circumstances.

Here at our facilities, you’ll find:

  • Accessible playground for gross motor skill building

  • Classroom/small therapy room for fine motor skill building

  • A large therapy room equipped with sensory integration equipment for sensory motor and gross motor skill building
